History

El Mina was an Egyptian Navy minesweeper hit by Israeli rockets during the Six-Day War of 1967 and sunk in Hurghada harbour. Today she rests on her port side at 32 m, less than 25 minutes from the marina. Her gun turrets, deck rails, and engine room are still recognisable — colonised now by lionfish, glassfish, and a permanently-resident grouper the size of a small fridge.
