About this species
Dugongs are large, slow marine mammals related to manatees. They feed exclusively on seagrass and surface every few minutes to breathe. The Red Sea population is small and protected, and sightings around Hurghada (Marsa Mubarak, Abu Dabbab, occasionally Abu Hashish) are unpredictable but unforgettable.
