Erg Abu Ramada is the kind of dive site that people return to for years and never tire of. Three coral towers rise from a sandy plateau, each one its own ecosystem. Circle them slowly and you'll find sleeping nurse sharks under the overhangs in winter, octopus changing colour in the saddles, and clouds of jackfish hunting in the blue. Plan two dives here — one circumnavigating the pinnacles deep, one playing in the shallows where the light is unbelievable.

A spectacular drift along a vibrant fringing reef south of Giftun Island. Schooling barracuda, batfish, and the occasional eagle ray patrol the deeper edges while the shallow reef explodes with anthias.
Gota Abu Ramada
Nicknamed 'The Aquarium' for good reason — the densest, most riotous fish life of any easy reef in the Hurghada area. The first dive every visiting photographer asks for.
